Splash! The Eagles finally made a move.
Sorry, they still haven’t traded Kevin Kolb — as of 10:30 a.m. Thursday — and Ray Edwards is still available. Meanwhile, New England traded a fifth-rounder for Albert Haynesworth.
But, hey, the Eagles got Jason Babin! Excited?
The former Titans defensive end has reportedly signed a five-year deal with the Eagles. Terms were not disclosed and deals can’t be made official until Friday at 6 p.m. The move was first reported by Jay Glazer over at FOXSports.com.
Babin, 31, recorded 12.5 sacks last season, under the tutelage of defensive line coach Jim Washburn in Tennessee, and made his first Pro Bowl. He was a first-round pick of the Texans. More recently, he played a stint with the Eagles before being cut prior to the 2010 season.
The hope here is that last season wasn’t just a fluke and he’ll continue to flourish under Washburn, who is now the Eagles’ defensive line coach.
Here is what Babin tweeted earlier today, “Back to Philadelphia, Back with Washburn….
