Kevin Kolb to Arizona

After nearly a week of speculation and rumors, it appears Kevin Kolb is officially headed to the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles have not confirmed the trade — and can’t do so until 6 p.m. Friday — but multiple reports have the backup quarterback heading to the desert in exchange for Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a second-round draft pick in 2012.

The shocking part is NOT that the deal got done, since that was expected, but how much Arizona relinquished to get Kolb. The Cardinals parted ways with a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback, a very high draft pick and then inked Kolb to a five-year, $63.5 million contract, with a $21 million guaranteed in the form of a signing bonus.

That’s a pretty steep price for a guy that we consider just slightly better than old school Eagles hopeful Bobby Hoying. But, hey, that’s our opinion. We do wish the young Texan the best of luck. He was always accommodating with the media here and seems to have a good head on his shoulders.
