A civil personal injury lawsuit filed last month against a Philadelphia charter school claims a security guard Tasered a 17-year-old student, causing “severe and permanent injuries.”

According to the suit, brought forth by Cakema Edwards on behalf of her son Armani Pritchett, 17, Pritchett was enrolled as a student at the Solomon Charter School, located at 1209 Vine St., when he on Feb. 2 became involved in an altercation with a security guard.

The security guard during the argument allegedly pushed Pritchett’s head into the ground and Tasered him.

The suit alleges Solomon Charter School was negligent in allowing the security guard to work at the school and in failing to properly supervise the guard.

The complaint states as a direct result of the alleged negligence, Pritchett “suffered severe and permanent injuries and scarring to his face and head.”

It further claims Pritchetthas undergone and will continue to undergo “severe pain and suffering,” will be forced to continue to incur expenses for medical care, and will suffer a loss of future earning power as a result of his injuries.

The plaintiffs, who are being represented by Eric Spade of The Spade Law Firm and Val Pleet Wilson of Wilson Johnson and Zuber Law, have requested more than $50,000 in damages.
