A man was gunned down Sunday night in Logan, and a shooting inside a Center City SEPTA station left one person wounded.

Police said 25-year-old Jahyde Gardiner was shot about 20 times just after 9:15 p.m. on the 1800 block of Lindley Avenue. He died at around 10 p.m. at Einstein Medical Center.

No one has been arrested, authorities said. Gardiner was the 109th person killed in Philadelphia this year, up 27% from this point in 2020, according to police data.

Just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday, a 43-year-old man was shot in the left arm and groin inside SEPTA’s 15th Street Station, investigators said. Officers rushed him to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition.

Last week, a SEPTA employee was attacked seemingly at random by a group of young people at the City Hall stop, part of the same underground complex. A union representing thousands of public transit workers has been advocating for increased security at stations.

More than $300,000 worth of jewelry was stolen during a robbery early Monday morning outside a nightclub in Center City, according to police.

Three men were near the corner of 18th and Chestnut streets at around 12:10 a.m. Monday when the two male suspects approached them and snatched the jewelry. Police said they ran north on 18th before turning left on Ranstead Street.
