Man killed in West Philadelphia double shooting

Philadelphia police are investigating a double shooting in West Philadelphia Monday night that killed one man.

One man was killed and another injured by gunfire in West Philadelphia late Monday night.

Shots rang out in the area of South 44th and Market streets about 10:48 p.m., police said.

Responding officers found a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his right side on the unit block of South 44th Street. The man was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:56 p.m., according to police.

Police were not identifying the 21-year-old man Tuesday morning, pending notification of next of kin.

A 30-year-old man was shot in his arm in the fatal gunfire, police said. He was in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
