A man was fatally shot by another rider after both got off of a SEPTA bus Sunday night in Oxford Circle, according to authorities.

Sawee Kofa, 27, of Lawndale, was shot in the chest just before 11:30 p.m. on the 5800 block of Castor Avenue, police said. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Prior to the shooting, Kofa and the suspected gunman had just exited the Route 59 trackless trolley, investigators said.

Video recovered from inside the vehicle did not show a physical altercation or heated interaction between them before they got off, SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch told Metro. Detectives held the bus to search for evidence.

No one was arrested in the immediate aftermath of the killing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the PPD at 215-686-8477 or go to www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been 51 homicides in Philadelphia, down 30% from the same date in 2023, according to police data.
