A
man led police on a car chase from West Philadelphia through Center
City to South Philadelphia after allegedly shooting another man early
this morning.
An
officer heard two gunshots from the 500 block of N. Paxton
Street in the Mill Creek section of West Philadelphia around 3:50 a.m.
He observed a male fleeing in an alleyway and a second man, who had been
shot, pursuing the alleged gunman.
The
alleged shooter jumped into a 1998 Ford Windstar and sped away, leading
police on a pursuit down I-95, ending near the Walt Whitman Bridge in South Philadelphia.
There, he
intentionally rammed three police cars and then attempted to flee on foot. He was quickly apprehended.
No
officers were injured, but the complainant, 52, had minor injuries from
the crash and was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital. He reportedly
threw a handgun out of the car window during the chase and police confirmed
they have recovered a weapon.
The shooting victim, 41, is in stable condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
