Man who hit four cops with car comes out of coma

Rudolph Keitt, 47, who hit four officers while driving wildly before police shot him in the chest on May 12, is no longer in a coma after undergoing surgery, his lawyer said Monday.

Keitt is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault. The officers who shot him are on desk duty pending review of the incident, according to police.

But his family says he was having a “medical emergency” when the incident occurred and denied that any “criminal activity” took place, saying he had a history of seizures and heart attacks.

The family’s attorney, Brian Mildenberg, said Keitt underwent surgery for the bullet wound to his chest, came out of a coma and is no longer on life support, but remains shackled to a hospital bed.
