Philadelphia is a city full of opportunities for locals, and also for tourists… so why not both?

Let’s paint a picture: It’s the weekend and you’re packing a suitcase, you have a full agenda ahead of you including a place to stay, plans to eat and indulge in some local fare, city entertainment stops peppered in there and also time set aside to check out the cultural opportunities that Philadelphia has to offer. It sounds fantastic, and it’s actually really easy to do when you stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard.

The hotel is located in the Navy Yard, and some guests even have the view of the sports stadiums in the near distance from their room—so, any event from games to concerts at Lincoln Financial Field, Wells Fargo Center and Citizens Bank Park is virtually just a light walk or quick Uber ride away.

The hotel offers guests a full fitness center, convenience store with snacks and drinks available 24/7, a restaurant serving up fare for most of the day (including breakfast and dinner), bicycle rentals, space for meeting rooms and more. But what sets this spot apart is the proximity to the heartbeat of Philly on top of all of those amenities.

It’s fairly easy to see what’s happening around the venue, and if you’re having trouble trying to figure out exactly what it is that you want to experience, Philadelphians can visit the hotel’s official site for ideas—highlights span a trip to Adventure Aquarium, the Please Touch Museum, Independence National Historic Park and plenty more listed on top of the obvious nearby attractions.

But, you don’t really have to leave the venue to enjoy your time and staycation either. Courtyard by Marriott Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard offers comfortable rooms (and some come with full kitchens and lounge areas depending on what you book), plus spaces downstairs to meet up with friends by the bar, or firepits to relax outside. The hotel is adorned with some localized art, and it’s a frequent hotspot during the week for those who work nearby.

At the bar and restaurant, visitors can sip and indulge in a full bar set-up with everything from beer (on tap and in cans), wine, and cocktails (pro-tip, this space has a great espresso martini.) Food-wise highlights span skillet meatballs, a few different types of salads, a bunch of apps and small plates (with everything from wings to truffle fries), plus larger plates like the chimichurri steak.

Earlier in the day however, the same bar offers up coffee drinks from Starbucks, a bevy of breakfast items spanning sweet picks like French toast and savory options like a breakfast sandwich.

There are also a few new ways to experience the hotel, and one comes from Visit Philly. The Marriot’s partnership with the brand offers an opportunity to stay with free hotel parking and the chance to pick a “perk that interests you the most” (options span tickets to different venues around the city like The Franklin Institute or the Rodin Museum.) And according to Visit Philly’s main site, these choose-your-own-adventure perks are worth between $150 and $186, depending on your selection. Philadelphians will have the option to book this particular package until the end of this year (Dec. 31, 2024.)

The latter promotion is available until March 14 of this year.
