Delaware State Police arrested a naked man who assaulted an elderly customer and an employee at a Newark, DE Burlington Coat Factory Friday afternoon.
Darrell J. Coleman, 20, of Wilmington, DE, allegedly entered the Burlington Coat Factory in the University Plaza Shopping Center around 11:20 a.m. Friday and removed all of his clothing. He then began running around the store mumbling to himself, police said.
At one point he collided with a female customer, 72, from Avondale, PA, knocking her into a mirror. Coleman was then asked to leave by a store employee, 31. He allegedly punched and tackled the employee until a second employee stepped in and helped restrain Coleman until authorities arrived.
Troopers arrested Coleman after a struggle and took him to Christiana Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and admitted for a medical evaluation.
The first employee was also taken to Christiana, where he was treated and released for injuries sustained in the struggle with Coleman. The customer suffered minor injuries but refused treatment.
Coleman is being charged with assault, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and indecent exposure. He will be arraigned when he is released from the hospital.
