NHL Playoffs: Flyers look to put stranglehold on series

So it will be Brian Boucher — not Sergei Bobrovsky — starting in net for the Flyers. With a win tonight in Buffalo, the Flyers would put a stranglehold on the series by taking a 3-1 lead.

Boucher enters with a 6-1 playoff record vs. the Sabres, and has 11 of his 19 career playoff wins on the road. Boucher’s Game 3 performance is on display in one of the NHL’s new “History Will Be Made” commercials.

“This is a special time of year,” Boucher said after Game 3. “It’s fun to play these types of games.”

While Boucher is slated to start Game 4, Bobrovsky isn’t even expected to dress, with Michael Leighton suiting up as the backup. Defenseman Chris Pronger is still listed as day-to-day, according to Flyers GM Paul Holmgren.

Interesting side note here, Buffalo has never won a playoff series when trailing 2 games to 1.

“If we go into [tonight] hoping we win, we’re going to be in trouble,” said Danny Briere.
