The runways are set, the styles are here and Philly Fashion Week 2023 is back in the City of Brotherly Love for another year.
Taking place March 2 to 5, the modish activation offers a variety of free and ticketed runway shows, activations, workshops and networking opportunities that will showcase over 70 local and international designers.
One highlight comes from a partnership with FABSCRAP and Fashion District Philadelphia. The organizations worked with fashion leaders to showcase their “Next Up Student Design Competition & Trend Show”. As a release states, the event features select local students presenting their latest designs for a chance to win $1,000 and an educational session with industry professionals. The group of models walking in the trend show will include breast cancer survivors to “spread awareness and beauty.”
“We want to create opportunities for the young talent within Philadelphia as we continue to build this city as a top fashion destination,” said Philly Fashion Week co-owner Kerry Scott in a statement. “Giving them a space to create, flourish and build awareness is a top priority for us”.
For this particular activations, students from Moore College of Art, Jefferson University, Drexel University, Harcum University and Albright College are competing at Fashion District Philadelphia on Thursday, March 2, at 5 p.m. This event is open to the public.
LIVE! Casino & Hotel is also hosting two fashion shows for PFW 2023 this week at The Events Center, with tickets ranging from $40-$150. Some fashion-forward Philadelphians may even recognize some familiar faces from the popular show, ‘Project Runway’, with recent and upcoming contestants showcasing at the runway events here in the city.
First up, the Runway l show will take place on Saturday, March 4, at 7 p.m., and will highlight designers JPratt, Paragon Charisma, Dear Laney, Imperial Legacy, Hester Sunshine, Modisch, Atiya Joanne, Dell Scott and Khangle. The Runway ll show will take place on Sunday, March 5, at 7 p.m., and will highlight designers Prajje Oscar, Christobal, Kovid Kapoor, Laurence Basse, Sarah Tremain, Verdict Still Out, Brenda O’Livis, GeChic , Khangle and Bishme Cromartie.
Philly Fashion Week co-owner Kevin Scott added in a statement: “Attendees will experience a high-end fashion show that is sure to inspire. It truly is an event unlike any other in Philadelphia.”
Other Philadelphia Fashion Week 2023 highlights include the PFW Networking Mixer, which will take place at a privately disclosed location on Friday, March 3. And lastly, the showcases’ closing party will take place Live! Casino’s Hotel Main Floor at 10 p.m. on Sunday, March 3. The event is free, and wristbands are required.
