Philly Trump protest set for tonight

Well, that didn’t take long.

Just hours after Donald Trump’s stunning victory Tuesday night, the Philadelphia Socialist Alternative called for a protest of the Republican president-elect Wednesday night.

The protest is scheduled for 7 p.m. outside City Hall. As of 12:50 p.m., the event had 1,000 RSVPs on Facebook.

“The Democratic Party has proven they are incapable of stopping Trump,” organizers wrote on their event listing. “The Democratic Party has failed. This is the result of the Democratic Party leadership backing Hillary Clinton instead of Bernie Sanders. It is time to build a new party of the 99 [percent].”

Organizers did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The event listing says the rally is being organized to oppose Trump’s proposed border wall with Mexico, and support such goals as: “Tax rich millionaires like Trump! Fund healthcare for all! Make college free!”
