The Philadelphia Flyers and star center Claude Giroux have agreed to an eight-year contract extension.
The deal will pay Giroux $66.2 million, CSN Philly reports.
Giroux, 25, had 48 points on 13 goals and 35 assists in the lockout-shortened 2013 NHL season, his first as the team’s captain.
Giroux’s breakout season came in 2011-12, when he put up 93 points on 28 goals and 65 assists.
He would have become a restricted free agent at the end of the coming season.
