See bright lights in Philly with Founding Footsteps

The Holiday Light Tour
Brandon Szeker

During the holiday season, there are a few givens: lots of shopping will be done, tons of cookies will be eaten, festive occasions will be in full swing and holiday lights will dazzle all — and the latter is the focus of Founding Footsteps’ annual tour. The city’s premier historical tour company launched their Holiday Light Trolley Tour in 2019, and this year it’s back and Philadelphians have been taking advantage of this unique and bright offering.

The Founding Footsteps’ holiday tour will travel to all of the top bright light spots in Philly including the Miracle on S. 13th Street, the Smedley Street Christmas Light Spectacular, Dilworth Plaza Skating Rink and Christmas Village. Guests who attend the tour (which starts at the northeast corner of 5th and Market, by the Bourse) are able to take pictures at select stops and truly soak in the majestic ambiance of the season. The trolley itself is decked out with colorful lights and the adorably festive atmosphere is set with live music being played. It’s then all tied together with an intimate and fun experience that you quite frankly can’t really get anywhere else.

Founding Footsteps is known around the city for their unique tours, and this is just one of its seasonal offerings. Tours span from trolley tours to walking tours, and various bus tours as well.

But, this very-Philly adventure promises plenty of holiday cheer with decorated trolleys and live local bands on board to play you through the various neighborhoods. As a release states, guests that are 21 and over may bring their own “holiday cheer” (BYOB) on the trolley with them to keep them rolling along and to ensure they hit the high notes of “Oh Holy Night.” Tours will run up until the New Year and everyone is encouraged to get your tickets beforehand, as this tour is known to sell out. Tickets can be purchased online. Adults are $65, kids under 12 are $60 and Seniors 65-plus are $60. Discount pricing is also available for Monday-to-Wednesday tours with adults running for $55, children for $45, and seniors for $52

So if you’re looking for a unique seasonal experience that you won’t forget, book your Holiday Light Trolley Tour through Founding Footsteps and check out their other tour programming offered year-round — there truly is something for everyone.
