In the aftermath of last Saturday night’s division-clinching victory, the Soul scooped up some hardware.
Quarterback Dan Raudabaugh was named the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week, while receiver Andrae Thurman was awarded the J. Lewis Small Playmaker of the Week. The Soul beat Cleveland, 66-57, to claim the AFL’s East Division title.
Raudabaugh went 25-of-28 for 285 yards and six touchdowns, with no interceptions. Thurman (6-foot, 185 lbs.) had seven catches for 113 yards and three scores (four touchdowns total).
“Dan has been making good reads and the right throws,” said Soul coach Clint Dolezel. “He’s been putting the ball where it needs to be and that’s why he’s been so successful. As far as Andrae, this was a breakout game for him both receiving and on special teams. Both of these guys are playing at a high-level right now and they’re helping us win.”
The Soul (9-5) take on Chicago Saturday (7:05 p.m.) at the Wells Fargo Center.
