Three people were seriously injured after gunfire erupted early Tuesday morning in Brewerytown, police said.
Officers were called at around 1 a.m. to the 1600 block of N. Newkirk Street, where they found the gunshot victims — two women and a man, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities said a 23-year-old woman had been shot multiple times, and a 53-year-old man suffered a wound to his shoulder. Both were taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. A 22-year-old woman was struck in the knee and hospitalized with nonlife-threatening injuries, the PPD stated.
Multiple media reports indicate that the violence may have arisen over an argument about fireworks being set off on the block.
Police did not make any arrests in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Detectives described the suspect as a tall man who fled the area in a white sedan. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
A total of 328 people have been injured or killed in gun violence this year, down nearly 33% compared to the same date in 2025, according to police data.
