Two people were taken into custody after a food delivery driver was shot Tuesday night in North Philadelphia, police said.
The incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. on the 600 block of Perth Place, which is part of the Philadelphia Housing Authority’s Spring Garden Apartments, near 8th and Green streets, according to law enforcement officials.
Detectives said the driver, a 31-year-old man, got into an argument with a teenage girl and an adult woman. After being hit in the head by an unknown object, he ran back to his car, police said. As he turned to look back, he allegedly saw a man pull the trigger of a handgun.
The bullet hit the deliveryman in his left hand, police said. Medics took him to Jefferson University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, according to authorities.
Officers quickly arrested a man and woman. Charges are pending, and the PPD has not yet released their names. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
As of July 28, 397 people had been shot in Philadelphia this year, down 34% compared to the same date in 2025, PPD data shows.
