The Bread Room has officially been baking in Philadelphia for one year, so they’re celebrating the best way they know how—with some carbs.

On Saturday, Oct. 17, locals can head to the Old City venue for the brand's first-ever Toast Bar Party,  from 8 a.m. to noon, where $10 gets you unlimited freshly baked and toasted bread, coffee, and a variety of spreads to mix and match with your creation. Visitors can go classic with butter and jam, make it savory with a fish spread, load up an avocado toast, or build your own unique combo.

Birthday add-ons include a Bread Room apron for $80, a baseball cap for $30, a T-shirt for $30, and a tote bag for $16. Every guest will also receive a complimentary limited-edition Bread Room birthday pin (while supplies last), and walk-ins are welcome as well.

For those who can’t make it out Saturday, The Bread Room has some seasonal classes this month.

On Oct. 17, Pastry & Baking: Plated Desserts ($100 per person, 5 p.m.) will teach participants how to “transform a great dessert into a beautifully composed plate”, with lessons in balancing flavors, textures, incorporating sauces, garnishes and presentation. That evening, the pastry team will share approachable techniques that can easily be recreated at home.

On Oct. 18, young bakers can get into the spooky spirit with Mini Makers: Halloween Cupcake Decorating, a hands-on class for children ages 8 and up. On that evening (5:30 p.m.), kids can decorate their own Halloween-inspired cupcakes with colorful frostings and festive toppings, guided by The Bread Room’s pastry team. Tickets are $60 per child, with a parent or guardian required to attend (but not needing a ticket). Space is limited to 10 children, and each little baker will take home their decorated creations.

Rounding out the month on Oct. 25 is Bread Series: Pumpkin & Gourd Country Boules ($150 per person), a seasonal take on The Bread Room’s classic country bread. With this class, participants will learn the fundamentals of mixing, shaping, scoring, and baking artisan boules inspired by pumpkins and gourds. Each guest will leave with a freshly baked loaf, recipes and the skills to recreate the breads at home.

The Bread Room opened in 2025, a new venture for restaurateur Ellen Yin’s High Street Hospitality Group. Part bakery, part workshop and part event space, the venue is also available for private events such as showers, receptions, and other corporate, community, or personal gatherings.

"Bakeries are historically a gathering place for communities — whether it's grabbing a cup of coffee on your way to work, a place to randomly run into your neighbors, saying hello to the barista who remembers your order or even a place where like-minded individuals might meet — bakeries connect people," said Yin in a statement at the time of opening. “We’re all craving a little connection these days. Our workshops and classes further this sentiment, and we’re eager to share our expertise with our community.”

All tickets for classes and the Toast Party are available via OpenTable. For more information on The Bread Room (834 Chestnut St.) and its upcoming events, visit thebreadroomphl.com
