The owner of a towing business is wanted in connection with a pair of recent drive-by shootings in Northeast Philadelphia that left two tow truck drivers dead and a woman injured, police said Wednesday.
Authorities intend to charge 27-year-old Najee Williams, who runs N.K.W. Towing, with two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault, among other crimes, once he is apprehended.
Williams, investigators allege, opened fire Jan. 11 on a tow truck that was parked outside of a smoke shop at Knorr Street and Bustleton Avenue in Castor Gardens, killing Aaron Whitfield, 25, and wounding a 21-year-old woman.
Less than three weeks earlier, on Dec. 22, investigators said, he participated in the shooting of 20-year-old David Garcia-Morales, who was discovered inside his tow truck on the 4200 block of Torresdale Avenue in East Frankford. Garcia-Morales died four days later.
Both murder victims and Williams were tow truck drivers. PPD Staff Inspector Ernest Ransom, commander of the homicide unit, told reporters Wednesday that detectives are aware of a dispute; however, he declined to elaborate on the nature of it.
Anyone with information about Williams’ whereabouts is asked to call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
