Style Me Hired Provides Makeovers to Unemployed Women

Today at the Omni Hotel at Independence Park, The Career Wardobe event provided head-to-toe makeovers to 100 unemployed women at Style Me Hired. The aim is help them land the job of their dreams. “Unfortunately, women who are out of work don’t always have the resources they need to transform their look,” says founder Marc Voci of Marc Voci Salon and Colorbar.

25 area salons furnished new hairstyles and makeup for contest winners, complete with new interview outfits supplied by The Career Wardrobe, the country’s largest independent non-profit organization serving women who are transitioning into the workforce. They’ve assisted over 70,000 women since 1995. “Style Me Hired winners will have a considerable leg-up during their job hunts and interviews,” says Sheri Cole, Executive Director of The Career Wardrobe. In addition to their new professional looks, winners attended workshops and received one-on-one consultations from employees of some of the city’s largest corporations.

Winners were chosen from hundreds who submitted applications sharing their stories and are seeking employment in all kinds of fields, from healthcare to retail. NBC 10’s Lu Ann Cahn emceed the event and said she was absolutely inspired what Voci and The Career Wardrobe were doing.

Kudos to Style Me Hired, Career Wardrobe and the Omni Hotel for putting together this great project!
