During the holiday season, there are a few givens: lots of shopping will be done, tons of cookies will be eaten, festive occasions will be in full swing and holiday lights will dazzle all; the latter is the focus of Founding Footsteps’ latest tour. The city’s premier historical tour company recently launched their Holiday Light Trolley Tour, and already Philadelphians have been taking advantage of this unique and bright offering.
Take a Holiday Light Trolley Tour that ends at a festively hidden speakeasy
Founding Footsteps’ holiday tour will travel to all of the top bright light spots in Philly including The Miracle on S 13th Street, The Smedley Street Christmas Light Spectacular, Dilworth Plaza Skating Rink, Christmas Village and The Art Museum. Guests who attend the tour are able to get out at each stop, take pictures and truly soak in the majestic ambiance of the season. The trolley itself is decked out with colorful lights and the adorably festive atmosphere is set with live music being played. It’s then all tied together with an intimate and fun experience that you quite frankly can’t really get anywhere else.
The tour ends on a special note this year as well at Santa’s Speakeasy. The brand new pop-up bar is hidden above the second floor of Philly Gourmet Steaks in Old City, and holiday-loving Philadelphians are truly in for a treat. When you step into Santa’s Speakeasy the holiday cheer comes at you in a wave of cozy lighting and plenty of Instagram-able opportunities. According to a release, the space has been completely transformed into a winter speakeasy, complete with works from local artists Lauren Lopez, Doug Woods and Teresa Haag. Local Philly vendors will also be selling interesting Philly-themed items that will make perfect gifts for loved ones or even for yourself (you deserve it). Guests can also munch on a few tasty bar snacks and sip on a variety of delicious libations while at Santa’s Speakeasy including options from Naked Brewing, The Larimer and Ploughman Cider.
So if you’re looking for a unique seasonal experience that you won’t forget, book your Holiday Light Trolley Tour through Founding Footsteps and check out their other tour programming offered year-round — there truly is something for everyone.
The Speakeasy will be open to the public Sunday-Thursday 4:30 p.m. – 12 a.m. and Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. – 2 a.m. (public hours will vary with the flow of traffic). Tours will run all the way to January 2020. Tickets ($35-$50) can be purchased at foundingfootsteps.com
