Temple police hunt for men who wrote swastika, slur in snow

The snow may have melted away, but authorities are still hunting for three men who are believed to have been involved in writing hateful messages in the snow on a car near Temple University’s campus.

The three “persons of interest” arepictured in an image released by Temple University Police over the weekend after a swastika and a racial slur were seen written in the snow on a car on Friday morning around 9:45 a.m. by a student.

“F—no. tf is this?? Temple students really trying it now,” Kelly Dawson, president of the school’s Black Students Union, tweeted along with a photo of the car that morning. She rreceived the picture from one of the union’s board members, according to Philly.com.

The Philadelphia Police Department is also investigating the incident.

“A Temple University Student was walking to class on the 2100 block of North Carlisle Street, when she observed the ‘N’word written in snow on the windshield of a parked vehicle,” the police report states.”She also observed a Swastika drawn in the snow on the hood of that vehicle. The complainant took a picture of the vehicle, that picture was sent to Temple University police.”

The three men seen in the images released by Temple police appear to be in their mid20s. It is unclear if they are Temple students. They were spotted on surveillancecameras by Temple police detectives, but it is unclear how they were identified, or if video shows the men writing the messages or near the car.

Temple University police is asking anyone with information to calltheir tip line at 215-204-6493 or submit a tip online.
