The inaugural Philly Beer Fest is officially tapping its keg (well, kegs) this weekend. Taking place this Saturday, Feb. 17 at the 23rd Street Armory, what this event aims to do is to celebrate Pennsylvania-based beer companies and beyond.
As the release notes, Philadelphians will have their pick of one of two curated sessions (12 to 4 p.m. or 5 to 9 p.m.) featuring pours from PA’s top breweries, while sharing some of the best beers, beverages, eats, and more, in the country. Tickets and more information on which breweries will be setting up shop can be found online.

On Thursday, Philadelphia will see a new holiday meant to highlight all of the unique experiences in the city. 215 Day will take place on Feb. 15, and with it comes special experiences and treats priced at $2.15 or reduced for the same amount.
As a release notes, the inaugural 215 Day will shine the spotlight on eats, drinks, goodies and giveaways on the town. The public is invited to engage in free events with the new holiday through contests and prizes from local businesses, access to exclusive events, concerts and deals, and by enjoying special features designed exclusively for the event.
Some highlights include $2.15 off tickets to the Philadelphia Zoo to see Thomas Dambo’s TROLLS: Save the Humans, $2.15 slices at SliCE Italian Market, $2.15 milkshakes at P’unk Burger with any burger purchase, a 215 Day Limited Edition Cheesesteak at Nipotina with a free order of fries, and an abundant amount of ways to win different tickets and artistic, wellness, and entertainment prizes.
It’s about that time of year again when Philadelphians can let the good times roll with the Mardi Gras pop-up at Craftsman Row Saloon. The annual activation opened up a few weeks ago, and will be on-site at the hotspot until Feb. 24.
The pop-up has been extended this year by brother-and-sister restaurateurs and co-owners George and Vasiliki Tsiouris by popular demand, and they say 2024 will be the most spirited year yet. The bar will be pouring out festive Bourbon Street-inspired specialty cocktails, while the kitchen will also bring back some Big Easy favorites along with some new additions, like Po Boys, Donut Bread Pudding, Crawfish Mac N Cheese, a Big Easy Burger, Jambalaya and more.

With the winter season in full swing, there’s plenty of excitement at Dilworth Park. On top of the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin being open through Feb. 25, the venue’s Wintergarden will also remain open until March 17, and upcoming events will entice visitors at both locations.
With skating, Philadelphians can reserve 90-minute ice skating sessions online. Admission is $6 for children 10 and younger, and $9 for adults; skate rental is $10 per person and discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
The Wintergarden on the other hand is chock full of twinkling lights, reindeer topiaries and woodland décor. It will be on site until the spring, and after that, Wintergarden’s plant material will be repurposed after the garden is disassembled to further beautify CCD parks and planters throughout downtown Philadelphia.

To commemorate Black History Month, Red Owl Tavern will be serving up a special menu crafted collaboratively by Chefs Ron Hicks, Phillip Kizer, Morgan Revell, and Rasheen Young. The offerings will be at the venue throughout February and will feature dishes like pan-fried salmon cakes served with fries and cajun aioli, a milk chocolate parfait with peanut butter mousse, crushed pretzels and salted butter brittle, and a Southern chicken cassoulet boasting smoked chicken, black-eyed peas and braised collards.
As the release states, a portion of proceeds from these limited-time menus will benefit Farmer Jawn, a Black-woman-owned 128-acre working farm with a mission to educate and reintroduce farming into the lifestyles of urban people, in order to cultivate physical, social, and environmental health, while building a model that enables regenerative organic food production by and for underserved communities.
