Three dead in separate shootings

NORTH PHILADELPHIA – A fairly peaceful start to the year ended overnight Thursday with three separate shooting murders.

The first was on East Washington Lane in East Germantown at 10:40 p.m. Police found Charles Johnson, 18, of Lansdowne, shot twice in the chest.

Minutes later, in North Philadelphia, a man in his late teens or early 20s was shot once in the head on Arizona Street. Then at 11:20 p.m., less than a mile from the second scene, officers responded to a reported shooting and found a 31-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. He died at Temple University Hospital.

Authorities have not identified any suspects in any of the shootings.
