Two waves of chilly weather expected in the week ahead

In case you thought the recent sunshine meant Jack Frost was sleeping, there’s no need to worry … he’s back! Two rounds of cold precipitation will make this week a chilly one right before Valentine’s Day.

Monday is expected to be a frost-filled day. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for New Jersey, southeast Pennsylvania, northeast Maryland and central and northern Delaware from 10 p.m. Sunday night to noon on Monday.

There is a 70 percent chance for precipitation Sunday night, with snow expected to come after 11 p.m. Snow, freezing rain and sleet are expected on Monday night with a 50 percent chance of precipitation during the day and a chance of snow.

Tuesday has a 90 percent chance of precipitation with snow and freezing rain expected throughout the day and rain expected later that night.

For those that are tired of snow, Wednesday projects to be rainy, with Wednesday night expecting to be cloudy. Wednesday should have a high of 44 degrees and will be partly sunny, with Wednesday night expected to be partly cloudy.

Mother Nature is aware that winter is upon us, but she clearly has a heart because Thursday looks to be a relatively comfortable Valentine’s Day.

You can bring your sunglasses back and even a box of chocolates for that special person because Valentine’s Day will be mostly sunny with a high of 47 degrees. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy and have a low of 35 degrees, making it the perfect weather to be close to that special person.

Friday has a 60 percent chance of precipitation and showers are expected from Friday night through Saturday night.

Sunday takes the “sun” in its name seriously, with the week ending on a mostly sunny note with a high near 40 degrees.
