Union look to keep momentum going this weekend at home

The Union bounced back from a devastating loss in L.A. Saturday by defeating a brittle Seattle Sounders squad Wednesday night. Now after returning to their winning ways, the team look to do the same when the Montreal Impact come to town, with a playoff push in mind.

The Impact return to PPL Park Saturday where they have not found much success in the past. The Union owned Montreal during their last meeting in front of their home crowd last August by a score of 2-1.

Jim Curtin’s team is two points out of the top six teams in the Eastern Conference who qualify for the MLS playoffs in late September.

The Union are experiencing a bit of an inconsistent season, but still remain in the hunt. Despite streaky wins and losses through 18 games, with itsperformance Wednesdaythe team has proven it can take down the league’s premier teams.

The Sounders are still atop the Western Conference standings which should remain an impressive win for the Union. Not to mention, the team has taken down other top-notch teams in D.C., New York and Columbus — all of which are ahead of them in the standings.

Although still fairly early in the season, the amount of games are starting to pile up as teams are starting to match each other and play more often.

Case in point for the Impact who will, well…be impacted with the remaining schedule. Montreal faces Wednesday and Saturday games for a solid stretch the rest of the season. Creating an advantage for the Union who are looking for a hot streak against tiresome teams.
