An underground electrical explosion in University City has left one man injured, Philly.com reported.
The explosion reportedly occurred around 10:15 a.m. near 34th and Walnut Streets adjacent to the University of Pennsylvania campus. The explosion reportedly threw two manhole covers in the air.

One man was reportedly injured, though the extent of his injuries was unknown.
“Ed Kiggins, an employee of nearby University of Pennsylvania said he heard the explosion, but even with the recent tragedy in Brussels, Belgium, he didn’t think it sounded like an explosion,” PhillyVoice reported.
“It sounded like a metallic bang, like something fell off of a building at a construction site,” Kiggins explained. “I just thought it was construction related.”

“Rest assured that this incident is not related to the current international unrest,” an alert to the Penn community said.
