UPDATE, 8:55 a.m.: Philadelphia police have identified the two people killed when the motorcycle they were riding on was struck by a car at Broad Street and Pattison Avenue Monday night.
Police identified the motorcyclist as Michael Ayoub, 18. His passenger was Rachel Sobel, 18.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. Ayoub and Sobel were Philadelphia residents.
Witnesses told police the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash happened, a police spokeswoman said.
Ayoub was driving the motorcycle west on Pattison Avenue when the car, heading east, attempted to make a left turn onto Broad Street.
