Weaver’s Way is one of the largest consumer food co-ops in the country, and before they open their latest location, they’re celebrating by welcoming new members with “open arms” and a deal.

With locations in Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill and Ambler, Weaver’s Way has set its sights on Germantown this spring, but in the meantime, those thinking of becoming members can subscribe for the new Membership Drive from the brand. As a release notes, Weavers Way is expanding its existing Member Appreciation programming to include the new Drive with perks and discounts through Feb. 29.

New members signing up through the end of the month will receive a $30 co-op shopping credit when they sign up, and will immediately gain access to their products from more than 300 local food growers and producers. To kickstart a membership, Philadelphians can pay a $30 investment, or, there’s a $5 kickstart for the ‘Food for All’ program. As the release notes, the latter was designed to support customers facing food insecurity by providing a daily 15% discount.

There’s also a way to go all-in, a one-time investment of $400 secures a lifetime of benefits and equity, and as Weaver’s Way says, equity belongs to each member, so if a member decides to leave the co-op, their contribution will be refunded.

And for those who decide to volunteer — the co-op opts to let members roll up their sleeves for about six hours — Weaver’s Way also offers an extra 5% off, and an additional 10% for those 65 and older.

“We are always looking for ways to thank our customers who, in turn, thank us for providing healthy, sustainable, local grocery alternatives all year long in the Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, Ambler, and the soon-to-be Germantown areas,” says Kathleen Casey, Weavers Way Development Director in a statement.

Casey continued: “Our Membership Appreciation and Membership Drives further increase brand awareness of our stores and our mission, strengthen and maintain our neighborhood relationships while providing value and equity to the communities we serve.”

This will all lead up to the new location. Ten to 15% of the co-op’s 11,000+ member households are based in Germantown, and Weavers Way aims to grow its Germantown membership by 1,500 additional households this year.
