When is Eagles Super Bowl parade, where? Official announcement and guide

Broad Street will host the biggest party in Philadelphia history — even adjusted for inflation (compared to 1776). A few days after the Eagles won their first ever Super Bowl, 41-33 over the Patriots in the 52nd championship game of the modern era, the city will finally get to celebrate.

Mayor of Philadelphia Jim Kenney made it official Monday afternoon, saying that the parade will take place Thursday morning.

“The City of Philadelphia will host a parade this Thursday for our 2018 Super Bowl Champions! Go Eagles! The parade will tentatively start at 11 a.m. at Broad & Pattison, heading north to the Art Museum.  Further info will be announced Tuesday at 9 a.m.” — the city’s official Twitter page tweeted.

There are talks that there may be a rally at both the stadiums and at the Art Museum during the parade. More details will come Tuesday morning, but a few key tips for Eagles fans are below.

1. Make your excuse

Play sick, use your vacation days, hell, even pull your kids from school. The parade to be held Thursday will be bigger and unlike any in the history of the city. There was no parade when the Eagles last won a championship, back in 1960, a lot has changed since then. It will be a memory that will last a lifetime.

2. Dress warm, in layers

The weather will be in the 30s Thursday, and even though it’s not Minnesota cold (which had sub-zero temperatures by game’s end Sunday), you’ll be outside for a long period of time. Bundle up.

3. Get there early

If the parade is starting in South Philly, that’s where you’d want to be earliest. If you want to catch the tail end of the parade the Art Museum area is where to go and arrival there can be a little later to get a prime spot. During the Phillies championship parade 10 years ago subway stations between City Hall and Pattison were so jam-packed with people trying to get outside that many couldn’t even see the parade itself through a mass of people. Avoid commuters, heading to the City just after 9 a.m could be the right time (or brave traffic and go earlier).

4. It’s history

The Phillies parade welcomed more than an estimated 2 million. This could be more. Bring cameras, being chairs, bring a ladder if necessary. The rally at the Art Museum could be an all-time Philly great sports highlight.
