Woman Admits to Hiring Hitman…With Stolen Funds

A former Allentown woman pleaded guilty on Friday to hiring a hitman over the Internet using stolen credit cards today, federal prosecutors said.

In September 2006, Marissa Mark, 28, used a website to find a hitman to shoot someone in the head, according to prosecutors. Mark contracted an accomplice for $37,000 and paid through Paypal using stolen credit cards. She was arrested in March of this year at her current residence in Jersey City, N.J.

Authorities said her target was not harmed.

Mark is scheduled for sentencing in December. She faces up to 56 years in prison.
