Woman pushing baby stroller fatally struck by SEPTA bus

A woman pushing an infant in a stroller Monday afternoon was struck and killed by a SEPTA bus in Center City, according to reports.

Linda Procaccino, 64, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, was crossing 23rd Street at Chestnut Street, and was in the crosswalk with the stroller when the bus struck her while making a turn. The 5 p.m. accident happened as the bus, which was full of passengers, turned onto Chestnut from 23rd Street, police told 6ABC.

According to the Inquirer, the Route 9 bus dragged the woman a short distance. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The infant, a boy between 6 and 8 months old,was unharmed, but was admitted to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for evaluation.

Procaccino’s relationship to the child wasn’t disclosed by police.
