With the school year right on the horizon, the School District’s Back-2-School Bus Tour will be making some stops this month to help get locals prepared—including at the Fashion District this Friday, Aug. 9.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event will take place at The Cube (901 Market St.) at The District. As a release notes, while there, the two organizations will prepare Philly youth for the school year with complimentary backpacks and school supplies (while supplies last), back-to-school information, no charge immunizations and physicals, education activities for kids, school registration, Parent Portal help, plus games, treats and other surprises.

“Fashion District Philadelphia is proud to team up with The School District of Philadelphia to help Philadelphia youth be set-up for success for this coming school season,” said Fashion District Philadelphia General Manager Ryan Williams, CMD in a statement.

“This is one of many programs we do throughout the year to support our local families and communities. We hope to see everyone on Friday. We look forward to being part of back-to-school season for families across the city for the 2024-2025 school year.”

Some timed highlights to look out for: A parade with The Sixers Stixers will take place at noon, giveaways start at 10 a.m., and the Philly Fashion Week fashion show and youth runway contest starts at 1 p.m. Doors to The District will open as early as 9 a.m. for any families that want to line-up for the event.

Over the course of the whole activation, visitors can also find specials from some of the Fashion District’s retailers, like BOGO half off from Hershey’s Ice Cream, 15-percent off General Admission tickets to Wonderspaces, a spin the wheel prize promotion at Sephora, and more.

There’s also a way to give back while at the event. The release also notes, The School District of Philadelphia can use community support. Donations are now being accepted for new bookbags and school supplies and can be brought to Levi’s on Level 2 of The District through Aug. 16. Any given after the Aug. 9 event will be given to The School District for direct distribution as well.

Williams added, “We are now accepting donations of brand new back-packs and school supplies to help aid as many families as possible. It is a great way for individuals to help others in the community, and we also encourage local businesses and corporations to donate. It is a great way for companies to give back and make a direct impact in the lives of our city’s youth.”
