If you’re looking for a staycation, a trip into the city, a space for gatherings, or even just to learn about some unique deals here with an eco-conscious touch, the Element Hotel Philadelphia on Chestnut Street right in the heart of Center City offers a few different amenities—and some are greener than you would think.
The venue itself is one of Philly’s newest hotels, opening in May of 2021, and to date, it’s the Element Brand’s largest property globally. The space holds 24 floors, 414 rooms, 46 suites and 37 meeting rooms for a total of 45,000 square feet of meeting space. The look and feel of the hotel also matches its age featuring a sleek and updated look with the backdrop of Philly’s historical charm.
But the real reason people head to the Element stems from everything it offers—and in terms of what you don’t really see at other establishments of the same caliber.
The Element says it aims to be “the perfect accommodation for those looking to maintain balance and wellness even while on the road”—and also, for busy professionals working in Philly. For one, the second-floor sky lobby features quiet nooks for working and relaxing. That floor also holds the Restore gourmet grab-and-go pantry with an assortment of meals, drinks and snacks, and its where the complimentary continental breakfast is served every morning.
The Sky Lobby also offers a complimentary Relax Reception (with wine, beer, cheese and more being offered) every Monday through Thursday around 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. for guests and those using the space for meetings. The 24/7 Motion Fitness Center is also located on the same floor, and another amenity note is the complimentary Bikes to Borrow program for guests.
Green-wise, Element doesn’t just lean naturally in terms of design, the hotel also aims to meet certain sustainability standards as well. The practices they preach include programs to improve hotel air quality, minimize pollutants and chemicals, and by using materials that were chosen for the effect on human health and the environment first and foremost.
Element Hotel Philadelphia also features electric vehicle charging stations, guestroom carpets featuring 100% recycled content, wall art made of recycled tires, walls featuring low-VOC (volatile organic compound) paints, bathrooms with low-flow faucets and fixtures, their own silverware and glassware to avoid more waste, ample recycling bins in rooms and throughout the property, and filtered water in every guestroom.
And finally, the venue only uses 100% recycled postconsumer wastepaper for all printing and stationary needs.
Overall over at the Element, the green vibes are met with a clean-cut atmosphere—sort of in a “we really aren’t in Philadelphia” any more kind of way—which is perfect when looking for a staycation or place to meet. Maybe you’re in New York for a show, maybe you’re in LA for a movie premiere while here… the point is when you staycation it can be anything you make of it—until you get in your room of course. Once in your room, the views of the City of Brotherly Love are sweeping, so you’re right back to being the prideful Philadelphian that loves their city.
