Philadelphia police killed a man after he allegedly stabbed another man to death and lunged at them with a kitchen knife.
Authorities said that shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday on the 5400 block of North Third Street the suspect stabbed Charles Fricker, an insurance salesman, during an attempted robbery. The knife-wielding man then fled the scene on a bicycle. A witness followed the suspect to a home on the 5800 block of North Mascher Street and called police.
When police arrived, they found the suspect in the basement. After repeatedly ordering the man to put the knife down, police Tasered him at least three times and when he lunged at them officers fired, a department spokesman said. Police did not release the suspect’s name.
