A sweet treat for breakfast? Yes, please.
In honor of National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day (Saturday, Feb. 4) a few local Philly shops are offering their own morning version of the fan-favorite dessert. And we’ve got the scoop on them all.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams
Jeni’s Ice Cream has been celebrating Ice Cream for Breakfast Day for 7 years, and in 2023, the brand will be commemorating with a flavor drop, freebies, giveaways, and more. Philadelphians can head to Jeni’s Fishtown location this Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon to partake in the sweet celebrations.
The event will have kids activities, including balloons and game pages for kids to color and a curated menu of favorite breakfast pairings. Last year’s favorite flavor, Maple Soaked Pancakes (made with fluffy pancake bites suspended in swirls of salted butter and real Vermont maple syrup ice creams), will be scooped up, and for early birds there’s also the opportunity to be gifted a limited Ice Cream for Breakfast Day mug.
And finally, visitors who take a PJ selfie might be able to win a year of ice cream. As a release states, 10 lucky customers who show up in their PJs will win a year of Pint Club, Jeni’s ice cream subscription (four pints of ice cream delivered every month). To enter the giveaway, just take a photo at the Fishtown scoop shop on the morning of Feb. 4, post and tag @jenisicecreams, and use the hashtag #icecreamforbreakfast.
