Three killed in violent weekend

In non-Occupy related news, three men died in three separate incidents over the weekend.

A man was shot in the street and killed in North Philadelphia late Friday night. Police found the man, 22, lying on the ground on the 100 block of West Westmoreland Street near Mutter Street around 11:48 p.m. He was shot multiple times in the chest and pronounced dead at Temple Hospital at 12:17 a.m.

A second man was shot and killed on the street late Friday night in Parkside. Police found the victim, 36, on the 800 block of North 50th Street around 1:17 a.m. The victim suffered one shot gunshot wound to the stomach and was pronounced dead at 1:41 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

A third man was killed in Point Breeze early this morning when his girlfriend ran over him with her car following an argument. Officers responding to an auto accident around 1:52 a.m. at Morris and Ringgold streets found the victim, 28, lying against the wall with his girlfriend, 30, standing next to him. She told police that the two got into a verbal fight inside the 2002 Acura the victim was driving. When he stopped the car and got out on the 2400 block of Morris Street, she jumped into the driver’s seat and hit him. He was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:02 a.m. Charges are pending.

No identities have been released in any of the incidents.
