There’s a unique experience coming up in Philly, and one that blends together opera, live performance, visual art and unique cocktails.
Love Notes: Notes to Self will kick off this Saturday, Jan. 13, in the City of Brotherly Love, and this event is described in the release as a special collaboration of PA-based businesses looking to highlight unique, world-class artists that make Philadelphia their home. Performances throughout the evening will be from creatives with resumes spanning The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl, Opera Philadelphia, the Kimmel Cultural Center, and many other celebrated venues throughout the United States and Europe.
This event is the latest addition to 2021’s Love Notes, which premiered virtually, and 2022’s Love Notes 2.0: Sour Notes, which premiered both virtually and in person. With this specific activation, ePOP (East Passyunk Opera Project) will take audiences on “a journey through music of self-reflection, struggle, and growth, with a dash of levity and laughs along the way.”
On top of all of the musical performances, Philadelphians will also be able to indulge in two complimentary beverages from Top Dog Cocktails.
“An integral part of our purpose is to put a spotlight on the exceptional, world class artists who make Philadelphia their home,” said ePOP General and Artistic Director Katrina Thurman. “We’re delighted to share their work with our community. We’re also thrilled that several of our artists from previous Love Notes concerts are returning and can’t wait to introduce our audiences to some new artists as well.”
Thurman added in a statement, “Once the bustle of the holidays have ended, New Year’s resolutions have been set and have begun to lose their luster, the cold, dark days of January call on us to reflect. Join ePOP as they do a little soul-searching on the meaning of it all, while never taking themselves too seriously.”
Artists making their return for Love Notes 3: Notes to Self include Philadelphia-based opera singers and real-life couple, Ashley Marie Robillard and Joshua Blue as well as Katrina Thurman and pianist Aurelien Eulert, according to the release. Additionally, Omar Saleem, DJ, beatmaker, and member of the boom-bap jazz band, Mobbluz will be taking part in the festivities.
Performances are at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) and 9:30 p.m. (doors open at 9 p.m.) at Society Hill Dance Academy, 1919 E Passyunk Ave. Tickets are $35 for general admission and $50 for VIP. General admission includes two complimentary cocktails and general admission seating (first come, first served).
